The importance of Appearance and Body Language in a job interview

It takes only 1/10th of a second to form an impression of a stranger

First impressions count. Making the most of the opportunity to shine is in your hands. Looking professional in a job interview can make you feel more confident.

Dress to impress

Stick to formals. Refer to this list of do’s and don’ts for men and women and you will not go wrong.

Hygiene first. Nervousness can make sure you forget the simple things. So brush your teeth, trim your nails, keep hands dry and clean, comb your hair and look great. Oh yes, chewing gum is a complete no-no.

“I never recruit someone who doesn’t dress up for an interview. It probably means they don’t want the job as much.” - HR Manager, Unilever

Feel the confidence in you

Stand tall. A straight back can add a few inches to your confidence.

Make eye contact. Connect with the interviewer before he starts asking questions.

Smile. You are never fully dressed without a smile.

Don’t bite your nails, play with your hair, move your legs. Don’t be afraid, don’t fidget, just keep your rhythm and rhyme.
